Nissan India, which is setting up a Rs 4,500 crore car manufacturing facility with Renault in Chennai, said that the project is on schedule and that its first car would roll out before summer 2010. The 50:50 joint venture between Nissan and Renault at Oragadam near Chennai, will have a capacity to manufacture four lakh cars annually and Nissan will initially produce two lakh cars, which it then proposes to scale-up to manufacture up to three lakh cars in about four years time.

The Sentra SE-R Spec V, which features a high-output version of the SE-R’s 2.5-liter engine – rated at 200 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque – and a 6-speed manual transmission, is priced at $21,160. The SE-R Spec V also includes unique suspension tuning, larger diameter brakes and an optional Helical Limited Slip Differential.

Each Anteros takes approximately 12 weeks to build from the time of order. n2a Motors starts by removing the donor Corvette’s body panels and installing the new carbon-composite Anteros body, a process that takes nearly 800 hours for n2a’s coachbuilding craftsmen to complete. The interior is entirely new with re-contoured leather seats, leather dash, Italian carpeting, and leather-wrapped interior panels, while the wheels and exhaust are removed and replaced with n2a’s custom-made components. The turnkey Anteros Coupe starts at $149,500 and the Anteros Convertible starts at $154,500. Anteros Coupes built on the Z06 platform start at $176,500. Performance packages ranging from 525-1000+ horsepower are available for an additional cost.

This week a summer of centenary celebrations starts with the launch of an exhibition and museum at the Morgan factory.
And yet there will be some centenary celebrants who will have to take part in the jollity without their cars.
For there is an 18-month waiting list for a Morgan 4/4 as the company, which employs 163 people, still produces
fewer than 1,000 a year (its order books are currently completely full).

It was figures like these that so enraged Sir John Harvey-Jones. He wanted to double production and raise prices by a
third. It was Peter Morgan, the son of HFS and the chairman at the time, who told him that there were only ever going to
be a small number of people who would be happy owning a Morgan which, in any case “was more comfortable than a ­motorbike”.
